Year 12 Formal

Had a wonderful night a few days ago as it was my year 12 formal which is very similar to a prom.  The formal was held at Leonda which is a famous place for lovely wedding receptions, and we were lucky enough to have our formal held there ꒰๑ ´∇`๑꒱

We had got ready and had pre's at Laura's which was only a 5 minutes away from the venue, so convenient!  and be prepared as I'll be spamming photos of the night.

with the girls:
Laura, Kirsten, Maddie, Mary, me, Meaghan, Mannie

 and with dates/partners

As you can guess by now, I'm the asian..the one and only in my group haha

amazing venue (credits to Suki)

the menu which consisted of a three course meal (credits to Jen)
I was quite satisfied with my meal, expect for the passion fruit cheesecake which was too sweet.

Awards were also given out which included best dressed, cutest couple, the bachelorette, and 'little miss sunshine'.   For those who don't know, the 'little miss sunshine' award is given to the most orange girl in the year level, and yes orange from spray tans.  With the girl who won the 'little miss sunshine' award she joked about how she had just come back from Bali which was the reason for her beautiful hideous tan.

say hello to 'little miss sunshine' legs on the right..dark much?

After eating, dancing, and taking photos we were told to leave Leonda at around 11pm, personally I wanted to stay longer but the teachers told us to leave.. We planned to have midnight pancakes at Pancake Parlour in our formal dresses, however the closest one was renovating D: So after we were shooed outside, we took a taxi back to Laura's which only cost us $1each since it was so close.  We spent the night at hers watching Community and binging on lollies and punch, but I soon fell asleep at around 2am because I'm known to sleep a lot...

So that's all about my year 12 formal, nothing too bad happened at Leonda, but I did see a security guard pour out someones vodka from a flask o.o tsktsk thought it was one of my friends who tried to sneak midori in, but it wasn't.

Here's the eyemake up I had, taken from a photo since I forgot to take a photo just of my eyes:
quite pleased with my noob makeup skills, and here's what I used:
cosmecom powder, ettusais bb cream, mybelline quad eyeshadow, shu uemura eyelash curler,
candydoll concealer, dollywink long mascara, fiberwig mascara, dollywink black eyeliner,
dollywink sweet dolly eyeshadow, D.U.P lashes in 906?, candydoll pink blush,
D.U.P eyelash glue, diamond nose makeup

Have any of you had formal/proms? How did it go?

G.Na new super catchy song, I love her hair in the mv

toodles,

12 hours left

OMG I can't believe there's less than 12 hours until my year 12 formal/prom!! I'm a bit high now haha, and I think I've got everything sorted:
- clutch
- heels
- makeup
- jewelry
- and the dress

Totally can't wait! there's also going to be a few oompa loompas (girls who turned orange from spray tanning) on the night which will literally brighten up the atmosphere, wonder who'll win 'little miss sunshine' this year :D

things from china + new phone

My dad just came back from China a few days ago for grandma's 葬礼, and brought back a few things for me.  I seriously think that he doesn't know how old I am, because he comes back with clothes for 12 year olds when I'm nearly 18 (๑✪д✪)۶

So here's what he got me:
some hideous chinese clothing and shoes
(but i really like the collar)

guzheng nails and tape that I ordered
somehow I think dad ordered more than what I wanted, because I thought I only ordered two boxes of nails not four...

Anyways, I always like leaving the best til last haha:

Say hello to my new phone - Samsung Galaxy R (i9103)!

with all the gadgets inside the box

Got dad to get me this phone because it's not out in Australia yet (*´◡`*) its very similar to the Samsung Galaxy SII, but this one was released a few months later, and I'm quite happy to this phone.  I'm now in the world of smartphones as my last one was your typical asian Sharp flip phone.

I should be studying for my geography SAC tomorrow, but I have no idea what to study, oh wells it's my 7th subject anyways so mum said I can fail it woohooo!~ I'm such a model student hehe.

Sweeney Todd

Watched the Sweeney Todd production, which was performed by my school and Camberwell Grammar on friday night, and it was absolutely amazing!!  For those of you who don't know the tale of Sweeney Todd who was the demon barber of Fleet Street, you can read it here.  One of my close friends played Mrs Lovett who's one of tha main characters, and she was amazing I couldn't even tell she was acting!

Before watching the production, I had dinner at Sofia's with a few friends, Melbournian's would know that Sofia's pasta servings are gigantic and impossible to finish.  I ordered a fettucini carbonara in small (thinking it would be the same as other Italian restaurants since I haven't been to Sofia's in ages) but I swear they gave me a large, even after eating heaps of it more than 2/3 was still left, feel so sorry for wasting food ꒰⌯͒•̩̩̩́ ˑ̫ •̩̩̩̀⌯͒꒱

before the show started
props used in the show
I was fortunate enough to sit right in the middle, thanks to Laura who got around 20 of us amazing tickets.  Apparently last year Trinity did the same production, but it wasn't as awesome as the one with my school this year, way to go girls :)

official trailer of Sweeney Todd ft. Johnny Depp

Have quite a lot to blog about this week, so I'll do my best to update posts because I don't think I have any tests or SACs this week.

Thanks for reading, bye bye~

Japan: Day 5 - Kiyomizu Temple *pic heavy*

Continuing with my Japan posts, because we don't have school today due to parent teacher interviews
(ஐ╹◡╹)ノ  This will be picture story about a few temple's around Kyoto.  Emma was our 'tour guide' and took us to many places around Kyoto, she had studied at my school for a few years before going back to Japan so we met up, and it was good to she her after about 2-3 years.

waiting for the bus to Kiyomizu-dera
 pretty kimono

One of those manual cart things

Famous Kyoto radishes

with Emma
we were still half way there despite the 15min or so walk

 Kiyomizu-dera!
Apparently its going to be a bad year for:
females turning: 18, 32, 36
males turning: 24, 41, 60

 Little buddha's with aprons?

Amazing dango, matcha etc

SNOW!! my first sight of snow (இдஇ`。)

I had tempura udon, and the prices were so cheap!

Samurai puppy :3

A very busy matsuri nearby

Another temple that was hosting the 'Coming of Age Day' - 成人の日

We then took the bus back to Kyoto station, then mum and I had a delicious dinner in some restaurant on the sixth floor of Yodabashi, it was a very busy day with heaps of walking around the grand Kiyomizu-dera.

I'll be back with more posts about my Japan trip next time!

Saturated

From the title you may be thinking that I'll be talking about foods that are saturated with fat or oil, however it'll be a bit about how the school 3km cross country (fun run) turned out to be.
According to the weather forecast this morning, it said it would be a top of 20 degrees with showers, so I expected a little drizzle like last year, however half way through the fun run the weather seriously changed

Yes this is Melbourne, four seasons a day

Found a similar picture to describe it, but imagine hail, rain and thunderstorms altogether, not to mention that you were running on tracks with minimal shelter except for a few bridges about every 1km apart or so and trees that offered absolutely no help either.
So everyone in the school ended up literally looking like wet dogs as we were 100% soaked from top to bottom that shivered uncontrollably on the way back to school, and I'm pretty sure that about half of the school won't be attending school tomorrow due to colds.

what we had to run in (stolen from facebook hehe)

But overall it was the best and worst last fun run, many of us year 12s saw little year 7s screaming and running for the non-existant shelter when the thunder broke haha, but we all got drenched to the point where the coldness of the weather could be felt in our bones (φ╻φ;) Winter's finally heading our way, so it's time to dig out those warm clothes Melbournians~

Time to Halt

Sorry for the lack of updates, because I am back to my second term of school and already we're getting SACs and assignments, but this weekend I had absolutely no homework, which means time to blog!!!

Since my formal (similar to a prom) is coming up I needed pumps to go with my dress which I already have, I was tossing between white or beige shoes and decided to go with beige pumps since they're easier to mix and match with (and dirt or marks are less noticeable), so I bought these 'Halt' nude/beige pumps from Wittners, oh I love that store, I think it's my fourth or fifth pair from there in less than two years (´・౪・`)

These heels are have a 9cm heel and a platform of 2cm, with these heels on I'm around 173cm, wow I sound so tall haha.  Usually I wear size 38 from Wittners, but this pair I got these 'Halt' heels in size 37 because it's a bigger make according to the sales assistant.
*So make sure to try heels on before buying them online because they may be bigger on smaller depending on the style

And because I'm a member of the VIP soul club *sticks nose in the air*, normally I get 10% off full priced shoes, so these heels would've cost me $134.95 (originally $149.95) but with some 'rocktail' campaign I got an extra $20 off weew, so these were only $114.95 and full leather aswell (೨♛‿♛೨)

Can't wait 'til the formal which is in less than a month's time!!~

Nothing interesting these days, but it's going to be 'fun run' tomorrow which is when the whole school has to run 3km under the 25 minute limit, with my new Asics runners I bet I can make it within the limit but it's probably going to rain tomorrow...just hope it doesn't

'Til next time, byee~

Shen Yun

Saw an amazing supercalifragilisticexpialidocious show, Shen Yun the other night at Regent Theatre.  This is their 6th tour to Australia and everytime they come, it is absolutely fantastic!  Oh and don't worry, this isn't some shitty show from mainland China, they are based in New York, which is also where most of the big shows are found; last year's post on the show here, and more about Shen Yun here.

couldn't find the Melbourne poster, but here's the Sydney poster
What I love about this show is how they have animated backdrops and combines it with what's going on onstage, which I've never seen in other shows; it's as if you're watching a movie or drama but on stage!!
my outfit for that night:
 Coat: Honey Bunch
Dress: Bershka
Collar: Be Radiance
Loafers (not shown): Wittners

Be sure to get your ticket to this amazing show! I think mum's going to take me again to one of their last shows before they go to perform at Canberra and Sydney (the last show in Melbourne is on the 15th of April), so don't miss out on this magnificent show!!!

Japan: Day 4 - Kyoto

Finally found some time to continue with my Japan trip posts. These few weeks I've been having SACs and assignments, so I was quite busy with school work.

It was our last day in Osaka as our next destination was Kyoto, so this post mostly will be on travelling to Kyoto. We took the train from the station nearest to our hotel to Osaka station, and from Osaka station we took the express train to Kyoto station.

love how advertisements are displayed in trains

a train stations that's also a shopping district, what could be better?

on the way to Kyoto, it was so packed I had to stand

next station - Kyoto
Such a funny little advertisement

and hello Kyoto, it's a massive station with JR lines, private lines, night buses, etc and many shopping centres and centered around Kyoto station.

the amazing Kyoto Station

Had lunch at Porta, which is a underground shopping arcade situated under Kyoto station, talk about space saving
at first mum thought the display food was real haha

cheap and delicious carbonara,
no wonder we had to wait outside with other customers

After we shopped around the many shops in Porta, it was already dark outside even though it was only around 7pm.
beautiful Kyoto Tower at night

Then we walked back to our ryokan which was just a 10 minute walk from the station.
Holidays are coming up, so I'll be able to make blogposts more often, thanks for reading :)
